About NamesOnWheel
NamesOnWheel.net is a free random wheel spinner built around three opinions:
- Fairness should be verifiable. We publish a 100,000-spin chi-square test you can run in your own browser. If a wheel says "we use crypto.getRandomValues" but doesn't let you verify, that's marketing, not engineering.
- Result screens should be ad-free. When you're picking a student in front of a class or a giveaway winner on stream, a banner ad next to the winner's name is awkward. We don't put one there.
- Tools should work offline. Schools have flaky Wi-Fi. Workshops happen in basements. Our entire site installs as a Progressive Web App on first visit so the wheel works whether or not you're online.
Who's behind it
NamesOnWheel is built and maintained by an independent team focused on fast, fair, free utility tools. We do not collect personal data, do not sell wheel contents, and do not have a business model that requires either.
How we make money
A single Google AdSense banner below the wheel on the home page (and below the wheel on landing pages). Never on the result modal. Never with autoplay sound. Never with ads disguised as content. If at some point we add a Pro tier, the existing free version stays exactly as it is — that's a promise we put in the changelog.
Open source
The wheel engine is open source under the MIT license. Audit the picker math — the /fairness page imports the same engine modules, so what passes the chi-square is exactly what runs in production.

Editorial policy
Pages on this site that compare us to other tools (e.g. /wheel-of-names-alternative) try hard to give an honest assessment, including cases where the competitor is a better choice. If you spot a factual error, email us; we will correct it and add a line to the changelog.
Accessibility commitment
We target WCAG 2.2 AA. Tap targets are at least 44px, focus indicators are visible, color contrast meets AA in every theme. See our accessibility statement.
